Looking for group? The Party is opening soon...

Big news!

You might notice that the newsletter looks a little different; cleaner, more minimalistic. I gave everything an overhaul, including the website! That ol' website was me just getting something out there, into the void, but now I've had a moment to start working towards something very important to me. I've slowly been working my way towards creating a community, and this overhaul marks Step #1.

What is The Party?

After seeing so many folks in tech worn out, stressed, and isolated (and being one of them), I knew there had to be some way we can support each other. So I'm building a way!

The Party is a new kind of community, one about using games and playfulness to decrease isolation and create a space to develop soft skills without fear of failure. I firmly believe that soft skills are foundational to creating more peace and joy in our day to day work. That said, we don't always have the opportunity to develop these skills without something being on the line - our confidence, a project, or even our jobs. That's where we come in.

Think interactive workshops, peership, and game-based learning. Oh, and we’re keeping it private, secure, and ad-free, so it’s truly for us, by us. I want The Party to be a space where we can talk freely about work, creating meaningful relationships that are not transactional, networky BS. This community will enable us to build connections that create a safe space for us to play and explore the skills we need to feel better at work.

Maybe one day we'll be creating a story together, and the next day, playing a round of Among Us to practice quick thinking skills. I'm looking forward to facilitating role-playing games, similar in style to D&D, and creating new ways for us to explore who we are as professional humans.

Alpha Launching Soon

I’m opening up early access for founding members in late Spring or early Summer. If you’re curious and want to help shape the community, I’d love to have you join us in the alpha phase. You’ll get a locked-in rate, early event access, and have a hand in building this community.

No need to wait! Have fun with games today! These are some of my favorite games

Sargasso Sea of Space

Physical game

Your ship breaks down in space and the only way to fix it is by working together to describe the indescribable junk parts floating around.

All Outta Bubblegum

Role-playing game

This is a great intro to tabletop roleplaying games. It's $free.99 and all it requires is your 🌈imagination🌈 and a couple packs of bubble gum.

Inscryption

Digital game

Practice your critical and strategic thinking, resilience, and decision-making under uncertainty in this slightly spooky, mysterious card game where things are not what they seem.

Happy Black History Month! This month, I found fresh inspiration at the Art Institute of Chicago's Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica exhibition. It imagines a supercontinent brought together by African cultures across the globe to create a future of solidarity, equality, and freedom. Some pieces were deeply moving, and others were heartbreaking but I noticed one thread wove them all together - authenticity. It reminded me that reclaiming one's voice is a radical act,...

Hey You! It's been a long month. - Let's talk about it. It feels like there has been more news in January than in all of 2024. Every day, there's something else going on that could have national or worldwide implications. As a result, we're now 83 days into January. Luckily, it is officially coming to an end and we can look forward to February. Or can we? Things might get a lot worse before they get better, which is why it's important that we take care of ourselves and our energy for the...

Hey You! Happy holidays! - The year is quickly coming to an end December has been a whirlwind of activity for so many. On top of all the action, this month I had my gallbladder yoinked. It was my first surgery and I was so scared! But it was over in no time at all. Somewhere in the space time continuum, I met Rick Gage over at the Center for a Loving Workplace, a nonprofit with the mission to make love the core of the workplace. He asked me "What do you think about love in the workplace?" At...
