It's time to focus on YOU!

Hey You! Happy holidays!

- The year is quickly coming to an end

December has been a whirlwind of activity for so many. On top of all the action, this month I had my gallbladder yoinked. It was my first surgery and I was so scared! But it was over in no time at all.

Somewhere in the space time continuum, I met Rick Gage over at the Center for a Loving Workplace, a nonprofit with the mission to make love the core of the workplace.

He asked me "What do you think about love in the workplace?"

At first, the only thing I could say was "Well, I don't want to cheapen it, but it feels like love is a soft skill."

"You're right," he said. "Love is like a soft skill." We went on to talk about how love enables trust, empathy, and compassion at work. Soft skills are really just human skills.

To that end, this month's newsletter is dedicated to humans connecting with their human skills.

JUST FOR YOU:

12 Day New Year Recharge Countdown

Starting today, December 26th
– Something new every day until January 6th

Be sure to watch your inbox!

The New Year Recharge countdown is a collection of activities and tips to help you find joy as you ease into 2025

I felt inspired by CNVS's advent calendar template, made by Lucie Agolini. Thanks to the template, I put together a countdown that I hope will help tech folks start the new year on the right foot.

Why? Because finding joy at work can be hard. Recently Gallup reported that only 19% of employees feel connected to their organization's culture. My hope is that these daily resources will give you an opportunity pause, rest, and reset.

Each day is a chance to reconnect with what matters to you - simple joys, meaningful reflection, or actionable tips to make work and life a little lighter.

I'll be opening up a part of the calendar every day at 9AM Eastern. If you'd rather wait, I'll send over all the unlocked portions in the January newsletter.

Oops, I'm a couple days late to sending out this monthly newsletter 😬 May really creeped up on me, y'all. There was a lot that got cut from today's newsletter, but since great is the enemy of good, I sent it out anyway! In this month's newsletter Switch 2...Expensive Power Up Program Games You've Never Heard About Around the Web (How Productive People Speak, D&D for Social Skills, and TV Garden) 1. Switch 2...Expensive See what I did there? 😅 My initial reaction to the Switch 2 was negative....

A pattern featuring game and technology elements, like dice, controllers, computer mice, post-its, and dragons

Big news! You might notice that the newsletter looks a little different; cleaner, more minimalistic. I gave everything an overhaul, including the website! That ol' website was me just getting something out there, into the void, but now I've had a moment to start working towards something very important to me. I've slowly been working my way towards creating a community, and this overhaul marks Step #1. What is The Party? After seeing so many folks in tech worn out, stressed, and isolated (and...

Happy Black History Month! This month, I found fresh inspiration at the Art Institute of Chicago's Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica exhibition. It imagines a supercontinent brought together by African cultures across the globe to create a future of solidarity, equality, and freedom. Some pieces were deeply moving, and others were heartbreaking but I noticed one thread wove them all together - authenticity. It reminded me that reclaiming one's voice is a radical act,...
